I teach undergraduate and postgraduate economics. The focus for postgraduate teaching is on Environmental and Ecological economics in courses covering the economics of environmental issues and sustainable resource use. My research interests are in the same fields, with a particular interest in identifying and measuring the contribution of cultural ecosystem services to individual and community wellbeing. The use of economics in identifying, quantifying, and addressing issues of pollution and environmental damage in a South African context are further areas of interest.
My community engagement interests relate to working in partnership with NGO’s, business and the City to develop and implement sustainable development plans for a local surf lifesaving club, and its immediate coastal surrounds.
