To be the market leader in research and knowledge sharing
The Unit is premised on three core values which are trust, honesty and integrity.
To build capacity in the field of business rescue, financial distress prediction, rehabilitation mechanisms and turnaround management in order to promote business sustainability.
BRU is actively involved in research and innovation in the broader field of business rescue. To achieve this mandate, the Unit produces relevant research and supervises and mentors postgraduate students pursuing business rescue related topics to promote continued research. To broaden the scope of research and innovation, BRU supports and encourages its members to attend conferences for information sharing purposes and to gain advanced knowledge of theoretical and practical issues guiding formal and informal debt restructuring procedures.
BRU acknowledges that emancipation of practitioners and development of new skills enhances business sustainability. Therefore, the Unit provides workshops, seminars and short courses that are aimed at empowering the business community through continuous sharing of business rescue knowledge. Most of these workshops and seminars are a collaboration of industry and sector experts.
BRU believes in capacitating the community through targeted community engagement projects, within the national, African and global context
