Ms Priyanka Harrichurran 


Ms Priyanka Harrichurran is passionate about academia and enthusiastic about using her knowledge of Economics to help others in the field and make a difference in the world. Her academic background is in Economics and Statistics, and she holds a Bachelor of Business Science (summa cum laude) and a Master of Commerce in Economics (cum laude) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Ms Harrichurran has been the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and accolades, including the UKZN Doctoral Scholarship, the National Research Foundation Doctoral Scholarship, the Golden Key Honorary Membership, and the Golden Key Outstanding Member Award for demonstrating excellence in academic performance, leadership, and community service. Ms Harrichurran is also a current PhD candidate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her research on time poverty in South Africa will reveal previously hidden gender and other inequalities within the household that are related to the allocation of time. This research will be path-making for understanding an important, yet under-studied, aspect of poverty that is clearly linked to well-being, and could be used to inform poverty alleviation policies.
