Ms Hlengiwe Ndlela

Biography

Ms Hlengiwe Ndlela is a Senior Lecturer in the Auditing cluster in the Accounting discipline teaching auditing at the 3rd year level in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance. She has a Masters in Accountancy (UKZN) obtained in 2018. Hlengiwe is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and is a Registered Auditor with the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors (IRBA).

She has over 15 years’ working experience spanning across a number of industries, namely; basic education, higher education, manufacturing, and financial services (accounting/auditing industry) with her skills covering External and Internal Audit, Teaching and Learning, Leadership, Board of Directors, Auditing and Finance. Prior to re-joining UKZN, she was in the Auditing Practice as an Audit Partner and Director at Ernst and Young where she had an opportunity to lead the KZN audit/assurance business unit.

Ms Ndlela finds purpose in utilizing her professional skills and qualifications to enhance the lives of those around her, be it individuals and or businesses. She brings this to life through her involvement within the university, in business and through external community engagements. My research interests are in accounting/auditing, innovation, people and technology; and how these components change and transform industries, processes, the customer experience and their lives.
