Sophia is a Macroeconomist employed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu Natal. Besides being an academic, she has previously worked in the public sector as an Agricultural Economist and in the private sector as a Research Consultant. Sophia holds a BSc in Agricultural Economics, an MCom in Economics and a PhD in Economics. She has interests in gender and women empowerment issues, entrepreneurship, the informal sector, and the care economy. She is passionate about women’s economic inclusion. She is a member of the African Women’s Development and Communications Network (FEMNET).
