Dr Sanele Gumede

Biography

Dr Sanele Gumede serves as the Academic Leader for High Impact Community Engagement at the University of KwaZulu-Natal within the School of Accounting, Economics, and Finance. He holds the position of Economics Lecturer and has earned both a Masters and PhD in Leadership Studies. His diverse research interests encompass Maritime Transport Economics, Regulatory Economics, Infrastructure Pricing, Industrial Structure, and Regulation. Gumede’s contributions extend to international and local journals such as the International Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic and Financial Sciences, and the International Journal of Business Law, among others. He has showcased his research at conferences both locally and abroad, including presentations in Japan and China. Gumede has actively collaborated on numerous research publications, particularly focusing on maritime economics and policy formulation. Furthermore, he played a significant role as a Content Contributor to the segment discussing the South African and African economy on Ukhozi FM’s Sithakela Isizwe talk show. Gumede is also affiliated with the World Conference on Transportation Research Studies, contributing to the exchange of ideas among transportation researchers, managers, policymakers, and educators on a global scale.
